Minister of Finance Özdemir Berova on Wednesday visited the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce.

Issues such as tax equity and economic decisions were discussed during the meeting.

Minister of Finance Özdemir Berova has embarked on a series of visits to economic organizations to discuss the latest developments concerning the economy.

Within the framework of these visits, Berova first visited the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce.

According to a statement from the Ministry, during the visit, Berova pointed out that close cooperation with economic organisations was necessary to ensure an improvement in the economy in 2024 in terms of economic recovery, financial stability and social welfare.

Noting that they care about the opinions and suggestions of all stakeholders in this framework, Berova noted that the Chamber of Commerce is one of the most important organizations of the country.

“In order for 2024 to be better than 2023, we need to work together and come up with certain decisions. These decisions need to be discussed with all stakeholders. The private sector needs to develop and so does the economy leading to an increase in the revenues of the state,” said Berova.

The President of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce Turgay Deniz for his part said that the year 2024 should be the year of recovery.

“For this reason, we need to work together and work out what needs to be done. As the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce, we will put forward proposals especially on financial issues. These proposals are proposals that take into account social interests, not the interests of a certain sector,” he said.

Deniz underlined that they are always ready to cooperate in order for both the state to win, the private sector to survive and the wheels of the economy to turn in a healthier way.
