Fire Department issues fresh warning
Date Added: 06 June 2023

The Fire Department has issued a fresh warning this week concerning fires with the arrival of the dry and hot summer months.

It reminded the public that it is strictly forbidden to light any form of fire outside of designated areas until October 31, 2023.

The department also warned the public not to throw cigarette butts from vehicles onto roadsides or into fields while driving, to create 4m wide buffers in planted fields, to inform the Electricity Authority of any trees or overgrown vegetation that might catch fire in the event of sparks from power lines and to keep fire extinguishers in vehicles, businesses and other establishments at all times.

It also urged the public to call the Fire Department, Forest Fire or Police hotlines 199, 177 or 155 should they see smoke or detect any fire.
