Fly Kıbrıs, the TRNC’s domestic airlines, has begun flights to Bodrum and Ordu-Giresun.
The airline’s fight flight to Bodrum was greeted at Bodrum airport with a water salute.
Among the passengers on the flight were the Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu, several ministers, company officials and journalists.
The airline carried it out its first flight to the Turkish holiday destination on Wednesday with an Airbus A320.
A promotional event was also held at the Doria Hotel in Bodrum.
Speaking at the event, the company’s founding partner Rauf Denktaş said that one of the main goals of the airline was to further strengthen the unbreakable bond between the two countries.
There will be two flights to Bodrum every week.
Also speaking, the acting Mayor of Bodrum Emel Çakaloğlu and District Officer of Bodrum Bilghan Bayar expressed their happiness over the launch of the flights.
The Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu for his part said that the airline had contributed to a drop in ticket prices.
He said that he had talked with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on what could be done to lower ticket prices further so as to contribute to the development of the country’s tourism sector.
Ataoğlu also expressed the view that the airline will serve to further strengthen the bond that existed between the two countries.
