Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu issued a statement regarding President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s call.

Noting that President Erdoğan’s call pleased the Turkish Cypriot people, Ertuğruloğlu said, “With these expressions, President Erdoğan has once again declared to the world that the only solution to the Cyprus issue is the formal recognition of the existence of two neighbouring states that will live in peace and tranquillity in Cyprus.”

Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu noted that the call by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the 78th United Nations General Assembly to “recognize the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” (TRNC) pleased the Turkish Cypriot people.

According to a statement released by the ministry, Ertuğruloğlu reminded that Erdoğan reiterated the call he made at the UN General Assembly last year and stressed once again in front of the international community that the new vision based on two sovereign and equal states on the Cyprus issue was progressing with determination.

“President Erdoğan’s call at the 78th United Nations General Assembly meeting to the international community to recognize the independence of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, establish diplomatic, political, and economic ties, and to urge the UN Peacekeeping Force on the island to act neutrally has greatly pleased the Turkish Cypriot people” the Foreign Minister said.

“President Erdoğan, with these statements, has once again declared to the world that the formal recognition of the existence of two neighbouring states that will live in peace in Cyprus is the sole solution to the Cyprus issue” Ertuğruloğlu stressed.

“I have full confidence that the goal of recognizing the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will progress on the path towards the Turkish Century. A strong Turkish Republic, combined with the strong vision and mission of the TRNC, will shape the future in a correct and healthy manner” he added.
