Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu expressed the happiness of the Turkish Cypriot people following Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), in which Erdoğan reaffirmed strong support for the ongoing vision of the Cyprus cause and a two-state solution on the island.
Commenting on the speech, Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu highlighted that, as in his addresses to the 77th and 78th General Assemblies, the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan once again called on the international community to recognize the independence of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and to establish diplomatic, political, and economic relations with the state during his 79th General Assembly address.
“President Erdoğan strongly reiterated before the international community that the vision of a sovereign, equal, two-state solution in Cyprus is progressing with determination,” said Ertuğruloğlu.
He extended his deepest gratitude to Erdoğan for his unwavering support for the national Cyprus cause, emphasizing that this backing is crucial for ensuring that the TRNC takes its rightful place in the international arena.
Ertuğruloğlu concluded by reaffirming the importance of Erdoğan’s message in advancing the Turkish Cypriot cause on the global stage.
