FM Ertuğruoğlu receives R. Alp Denktaş following appointment as Türkiye’s Ambassador to Warsaw

Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu on Tuesday received Rauf Alp Denktaş, who has been appointed as Türkiye’s Ambassador to Warsaw.

In a statement from the Ministry, Foreign Minister Ertuğruloğlu extended his best wishes for success to Rauf Alp Denktaş in his new role, stating, “Just as you have carried out your previous duties, I am fully confident that in your new role, you will effectively advocate for our national Cyprus cause and our foreign policy aimed at achieving the recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), in collaboration with our motherland, the Republic of Türkiye.”

Rauf Alp Denktaş, is the grandson of the founding President of the TRNC Rauf Raif Denktaş and son of Denktaş’s eldest son Raif Denktaş, who was killed in a road traffic accident in 1985.

He began working in Türkiye’s diplomatic service in 2001 and has worked in various roles including regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict and Türkiye’s representation at the UN in New York.
