Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu received a delegation from the National Struggle Foundation.

During the visit Foreign Minister Ertuğruloğlu said that he believes the policy based on equal international status is the healthiest policy on Cyprus to date.

Speaking during the visit, the President of the National Struggle Foundation Aziz Gülbahar said that the aim of the foundation, which started its activities in 2001, is to support the national policy on Cyprus determined together with the Motherland Türkiye, to protect national consciousness and national values, to work to disrupt the games of internal and external factors that threaten the sovereignty and security of the State, to organize activities, and to strive to contribute to the development of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in every field.

Informing the Foreign Minister regarding the activities of the foundation, he also conveyed the foundations views on the Cyprus problem.

“The confirmation of our sovereign equality and equal international status should remain as a prerequisite and there should be no step back from this point,” said Gülbahar.

He also noted that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s call for the official recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus at the UN General Assembly meetings in 2022 and 2023 was a milestone in the national policy on Cyprus.

Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu for his part said that he believes the policy based on equal international status is the healthiest policy on Cyprus to date.

Noting that decades of unsuccessful negotiations for a federal partnership were nothing more than a waste of time, Ertuğruloğlu said that developments were an indication of how biased and blatantly in favour of the Greek Cypriot side the international community was.

He said that the sovereign equality of the Turkish Cypriot people must be recognized before any talks could begin.
