Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu took to the podium at parliament and made statements regarding a variety of issues on the agenda.

He also responded to criticisms made during the general assembly in parliament regarding the name of the State.

Ertuğruloğlu stated that there is no such issue on the government’s agenda and that the name of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) cannot be changed with the current Constitution, noting that the state is a member of the Organization of Turkic States with its Constitutional name.

Noting that what is important is that the Turkish Cypriot people, as a sovereign people, have a sovereign state, Ertuğruloğlu emphasized that this is the TRNC.

Foreign Minister Ertuğruloğlu stated that if there is a need in the future, this can be discussed within the constitutional order.

Ertuğruloğlu also made a statement regarding the Pile – Yiğitler Road project.

He said that the road work is continuing as planned and referred to the UN Security Council statement.

Stating that this road will be built, Ertuğruloğlu said that a small road construction was exaggerated and that the UN brought the British and Greek Cypriot sides into the issue.

Also evaluating the issue of the special representative, Ertuğruloğlu stated that the UN resolutions are not binding, but advisory and added that the Turkish Cypriot people will not surrender to this.
