The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned military activities the Greek Cypriot administration will carry out until 11 May with the participation of several countries.

“The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will not remain silent about the violation of its sovereign rights and we will take the necessary measures together with the Republic of Türkiye to protect our rights” the foreign ministry stressed.

In a written statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that the Greek Cypriot Administration had been clearly increasing its armament and military activities for a long time, and stated that they brought this disturbance to the attention of the public and the international community at every opportunity.

Noting that according to a statement issued by the Greek Cypriot Ministry of Defence, the Greek Cypriot Administration was carrying out activities with the participation of some countries and warplanes on May 7-11, the statement said, “We condemn this provocation of the Greek Cypriot Administration in the strongest terms.”

The Foreign Ministry also called on the participating countries to refrain from being a part of the armament and aggressive policies of the Greek Cypriot Administration, knowingly or unknowingly, and instead to encourage the Greek Cypriot Administration to establish an environment of stability and peace in the region and the island.

The statement warned that during this provocative military activity, where warplanes and helicopters will fly at low altitudes, violating the sovereignty rights of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the buffer zone should be avoided.

“The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will not remain silent about the violation of its sovereign rights and we will take the necessary measures together with the Republic of Türkiye to protect our rights. We hope that the international community, especially the United Nations Peacekeeping Force will not remain silent to the increasing armament and military activities of the Greek Cypriot Administration, which has disturbed the stability and peace environment” the foreign ministry added.
