The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement regarding an abandoned building also known as Neriman’s House.

In its statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said “The continuation of peace and security in the region can only be possible if the Greek Cypriot administration ends its provocative actions”.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a written statement regarding the abandoned building known as Neriman’s house.

In the statement, it was noted that in recent days, the Greek Cypriot side has been trying to spread false, inaccurate and baseless news through the press that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) State aims to increase tension on the island.

“Although the Greek Cypriot side is not expected to adopt a different attitude, in light of such false and slanderous news that has the potential to disturb the peace of our people, it has become necessary to make this statement with the understanding of conveying accurate information to our public opinion” said the ministry.

The Foreign Ministry statement is as follows: The empty building known as Neriman’s house, located to the west of the Metehan land border crossing in Lefkoşa, is located within the territory of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The Greek Cypriot Administration of South Cyprus has been carrying out provocative activities by installing floodlights and cameras on the guard posts opposite the building in question for a while and has been acting with the misconception that it can disrupt the status of the buffer zone with such actions.

These activities of the Greek Cypriot side are being monitored and the necessary protests are being made by both our military and civilian authorities before the UN Security Council.

As a result of the continuation of these activities of the Greek Cypriot side, despite all the warnings made, it was necessary to take necessary measures within the territory of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in accordance with the principle of reciprocity”.

We inform the public that we will not allow any violation and fait accompli against the territorial integrity of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and that we will continue to take all our steps in the region within the framework of reciprocity.

We would like to remind that the continuation of peace and security in the region can only be possible if the Greek Cypriot administration ends its provocative actions, and we would like to emphasize that we will continue to do our part for the continuation of peace and security on the island.
