Founding member of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) and its first party leader Ahmet Mithat Berberoğlu was remembered on Tuesday on the 21st anniversary of his death.
A ceremony was held by his graveside at Karaoğlanoğlu, Girne.
Speaking at the ceremony, the leader of the main opposition Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Tufan Erhürman said that the party had been established 53 years ago under very difficult circumstances.
“The CTP is the strong party it is today as a result of the great efforts and courage of Berberoğlu and his fellow associates,” said Erhürman.
The CTP leader said that the party will continue to carry on the struggle Berberoğlu and all his friends had begun.
