The bust of Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş, gifted by the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre, was placed at the entrance of the Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Palace with a ceremony.

At the ceremony, which started with a minutes silence and the reciting of the National Anthem, Gazimağusa Mayor Süleyman Uluçay delivered the first speech by emphasizing the importance of new generations recognizing our leaders whom we are always loyal to.

In his speech at the ceremony, Eastern Mediterranean University Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç stated that the 40th anniversary of the Republic is being celebrated with enthusiasm at the university and expressed his thanks to the President of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre for his gift.

Chairman of the Eastern Mediterranean University Foundation Board of Managers Erdal Özcenk for his part emphasized the importance of the placement of the bust of Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş at the entrance of the Culture and Congress Palace, which was named after him.

Daughter of the Founding President, Ender Denktaş Vangöl who also spoke at the event said that it is everyone’s duty to carry the state forward and glorify it.
