A ceremony was held in the garden of the TRNC Parliament in memory of former Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Sait Güven, who recently passed away.

The event was attended by prominent figures, including Parliament Speaker Ziya Öztürkler and President Ersin Tatar, both of whom delivered speeches highlighting Güven’s unwavering commitment to public service, his integrity, and his devoted family life.

The ceremony commenced with a reading of Sait Güven’s biography.

His grandson, Can Kaptan, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of his grandfather.

Parliament Speaker Ziya Öztürkler emphasized Güven’s exceptional contributions to the Turkish Cypriot people and the nation, noting his dedication, honesty, and passion for service.

“He was a good father, an excellent dentist, and above all, a good human being. May he rest in peace,” said Öztürkler.

President Ersin Tatar reflected on Güven’s journey, mentioning his roots in Limassol and his tireless efforts in public life.

He praised Güven’s humble and people-focused character, which left a lasting legacy of service.

Tatar also highlighted Güven’s significant role during the early years of the TRNC, particularly under the parliamentary roof, and his dedication to both his family and the nation.

Following a funeral prayer at Nurettin Ersin Mosque Sait Güven was laid to rest at Karaoğlanoğlu Cemetery.
