Meanwhile Türkiye will observe a day of mourning today over the assassination of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced on Thursday.

According to the statements made by the General Directorate of Foundations and Yunus Emre Institute, the prayers organized by the Cyprus Palestine Initiative will be held after Friday prayers in six mosques in six districts.

The funeral prayer and prayer in absentia for Haniyeh and the martyrs of Gaza will take place at Hz. Ebubekir Mosque in Lefkoşa Nurettin Ersin Pasha Mosque in Girne, Osman Fazıl Polatpaşa Mosque in Gazimağusa, Merkez Mosque in İskele, Fatih Mosque in Güzelyurt and Gemi Konağı Mosque in Lefke.
