The Minister of Labour and Social Security Sadık Gardiyanoğlu continues his contacts in Ankara.

Minister Gardiyanoğlu participated in the International Conference on Work Life and Social Protection in Turkic States held in Ankara on Thursday.

The conference was also attended by Chairman of the Council of Elders and former Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım and Turkish Minister of Labour and Social Security Prof. Dr. Vedat Işıkhan.

In his speech, Minister Gardiyanoğlu stated that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) connects with the world through Türkiye, saying, “I extend my gratitude, on behalf of myself and my country, to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who called for the recognition of the TRNC at the UN General Assembly and enabled our observer membership in the Organization of Turkic States.”

Providing information about the work of his ministry, Gardiyanoğlu announced that they declared 2024 as the year of social services, completed the repair and renovation of all rehabilitation centres, finished the maintenance, repair, and revision of all nursing homes, and updated the Social Services Law, which had been pending for 35 years, and submitted it to the Assembly.

Touching upon the number of foreign nationals working in the TRNC and their countries, he stated that, as the minister regulating work life, there are no security agreements with other countries of the Organization of Turkic States, excluding citizens of Türkiye.

Minister Gardiyanoğlu noted that once all Turkic states complete their official protocols with each other, workers from each country could be united under one umbrella, creating a robust infrastructure.
