GC Parliament approves payment of compensation

The General Assembly of the Greek Cypriot Parliament approved the payment of compensation to a Turkish Cypriot-American citizen Orhan Hüseyin Derviş.

Derviş will receive compensation in the amount of 345,000 Euros from the “Turkish Cypriot Property Fund.”

The decision of the court regarding the removal of the property of Orhan Hüseyin Derviş, a Turkish Cypriot-American citizen, located in Limasol, from the administration of the “Custodian of Turkish Cypriot properties” under the Greek Cypriot Ministry of Interior, as well as the payment of compensation and court expenses to him, was approved by the General Assembly of the Greek Cypriot Parliament.

According to the Greek Cypriot Fileleftheros newspaper, the court decision that emerged through a settlement between the plaintiff and defendant in the case numbered 5852/13, filed by Orhan Hüseyin Derviş against the Greek Cypriot Attorney General’s Office and the “Custodian of Turkish Cypriot properties” under the Greek Cypriot Ministry of Interior, was approved by the General Assembly of the Greek Cypriot Parliament with 31 in favour, 1 against, and 1 abstaining vote.

According to the decision, Derviş will receive compensation of 345,000 Euros from the “Turkish Cypriot Property Fund,” his property in Limasol will be transferred to him from the “Custodian of Turkish Cypriot properties,” and a total of 345,000 Euros will be paid, including 310,000 Euros with a legal interest rate of 2% from July 22, 2022, until the present day, and 20,110 Euros as legal expenses.
