A variety of events were organized by women’s organizations to mark the 8th of March International Women’s Day.

Within the framework of events GI KA KOOP inaugurated their production, sales and education centre.

Alongside President Ersin Tatar, state and government officials and the Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu also attended the event.

8th of March International Working Women’s Day was marked with various events throughout the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The Entrepreneurial Women’s Development Cooperative GI-KA KOOP held a promotional event for the new building they have established that will provide women with training and a place to sell their products.

Income achieved from the Gİ-KA KOOP products will be donated to the Turkish Cypriot Solidarity Platform for the construction of temporary living houses.

Speaking at the event the Minister for Labour and Social Security Hasan Taçoy praised GI-KA KOOP as they were providing a platform for women to produce and sell their products and achieve economic gains.

Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu for his part said “Women will succeed, Türkiye will succeed. Women will succeed, the TRNC will succeed”.

He said a society is half women and half men and that everything must be done so that women have equal opportunities with men.

President Ersin Tatar also made a short statement at the event.

Congratulating women on International Women’s Day, Tatar said that for years women in the TRNC, despite all the obstacles have taken part in economic and social life.

Noting that the GI-KA KOOP building is visited by tourists, Tatar said that the products produced by Turkish Cypriot women, contribute to the value of the country.
