Efforts to recover from the devastating fire in Mersinlik last summer which destroyed swathes of forest is continuing.
The Cyprus Turkish Security Forces in collaboration with the Department of Forestry has planted 5000 saplings in the area.
Teams from the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces contributed to reforestation efforts in the Mersinlik area destroyed in a horrific forest fire last summer.
According to a statement released, a total of 1200 people made up of personnel from the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces, their families as well as soldiers doing their military service planted 5000 saplings in the İskele/Mersinlik forest area in collaboration with the Department of Forestry.
A total of 2000 cypress, 1850 nut pine, 600 eucalyptus and 550 tamarisk saplings were planted as part of the project.
