Hasipoğlu: Diplomatic action soon on EU-Turkic deal

General Secretary of the National Unity Party (UBP), Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, stated that diplomatic steps will soon be visible in response to the recent agreement signed between the European Union and some member states of the Organization of Turkic States.

Emphasizing that developments within the Turkic world are being closely monitored in coordination with Türkiye, UBP General Secretary Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu noted that while states act in line with their national interests, this reality does not prevent timely and strategic diplomatic initiatives.

Highlighting the significance of the bilateral meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and TRNC President Ersin Tatar on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Hasipoğlu described it as carrying important messages for the future.

He said the meeting sent a clear signal of solidarity within the Turkic world and reinforced the TRNC’s growing diplomatic footprint.

Criticizing those who attempt to exploit the Turkic States process for domestic political gains ahead of the upcoming presidential elections, Hasipoğlu said such individuals are trapped in a “federal helplessness” rooted in years of failed negotiations.

He stressed that the Greek Cypriot side has never been willing to share either governance or wealth, and warned that ignoring this reality in pursuit of electoral advantage would lead to a repetition of the post-Annan Plan disappointments of 2004.
