Health Minister Dinçyürek issues message

The Minister of Health Hakan Dinçyürek said that the government will continue to take important steps to improve healthcare in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Dinçyürek’s remarks came on BRT’s morning news show which he attended on the occasion of March 14 Medicine Day.

The Minister of Health Hakan Dinçyürek told BRT on Thursday that the government will continue to take important steps to further improve the quality of healthcare in the country.

He said that a number of short, medium, and long-term projects were underway to meet this goal.

Explaining that health centres from the very tip of the Karpaz Peninsula to the western most corner of Yeşilırmak were being upgraded in a bid to provide better healthcare access to the public, Dinçyürek, announced that the new hospital in Girne currently under construction will soon be completed.

He added that a tender for the completion of the Güzelyurt Hospital will be announced in the coming days.

The health minister said that the government’s target also included increasing the number of ambulances in 2024 to 20.

He added that a tender for the purchase of ₺750m in medicine was also ready.

Other projects, Dinçyürek said, included the creation of a new cardiology department at the Gazimağusa State Hospital which would be as up to date as the one at the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State hospital in Lefkoşa.

He concluded his remarks by wishing all doctors and healthcare workers a happy March 14 Medicine Day.
