Heat wave to continue until 21st of July

The heat wave that is currently effective in the country is expected to last until Friday, July 21.

The Meteorology Department has issued a warning regarding the heat wave, ultraviolet radiation and the possibility of forest fires in the country.

While the heat wave that is scorching the country is expected to last until Friday, the Meteorology Department, the Ministry of Health and doctors are advising the public to be cautious.

Due to the temperature being 4-7 degrees above seasonal norms in the country, the Meteorology Department issued a warning about ultraviolet radiation and the possibility of forest fires.

The Meteorology Department Director Raif İlker Buran said that temperatures will reach around 41-44 degrees inland and 36-39 degrees on the coasts and called on citizens to be cautious when running errands and to stay hydrated.

Neurosurgeon Dr. Çağın Ozankaya warned the public regarding heat stroke and said that anyone above the age of 65 is under risk of suffering problems due to the heat.

He called on people not to leave their children or pets in their vehicles even for a short period, and said that in case of sunstroke, the affected person should be taken to a cool place and 112 should be called in case of emergencies.

In a statement released on Friday, the Ministry of Health also warned citizens not to go out and bout during the hottest hours of the day and protect themselves from the unseasonably high temperatures that are affecting the country.
