Heat wave warning

A heat wave warning has been issued by the Meteorology Department.

It announced that temperatures will be above 4 to 6 degrees above the seasonal norms.

The Meteorology Department has warned that Cyprus is under the influence of a hot air mass and will be experiencing a mini heat wave over the next few days.

According to a statement released by the Department temperatures will be above 4 to 6 degrees above the seasonal norms until 17th of August.

The temperatures are expected to be around 41 to 43 degrees inland and 38 to 40 degrees on the coasts.

It also issued a warning against land and forest fires and also against heatstroke.

It called on people to take precautionary measures between noon and 4pm which are the hottest hours during the day.
