Holguin to hold contacts in Ankara

UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric announced that Maria Angela Holguin, Personal Representative of United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, will visit Ankara, the capital of Türkiye on Thursday.

Dujarric said that the UN Secretary General’s Personal Representative Maria Angela Holguin carried out her first visit to Cyprus and has moved on to Greece.

Holguin had met with President Ersin Tatar and the leader of the Greek Cypriot Administration Nicos Christodoulides during her visit to Cyprus.

Dujarric announced that Cuellar will be in Ankara on Thursday, February 8, to hold talks with officials, from where she will move on to London.

In the written statement made by the Presidency regarding Holguin’s visit, it was stated that Tatar once again conveyed to the UN Personal Representative that the sovereign equality and equal international status of North Cyprus must be confirmed in order for a new and official negotiation process to begin.
