National Unity Party General Secretary MP Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, in his speech at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), criticized the Greek Cypriot Administration for arresting foreign nationals investing in North Cyprus.

In his speech, Hasipoğlu invited the Greek Cypriot Administration to recognize the decisions of the Immovable Property Commission, which the European Court of Human Rights has accepted as an effective domestic remedy.

National Unity Party MP Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, the head of the delegation representing the Republic’s Assembly at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, responded to the speeches made by Greek Cypriot MPs on the arrests of foreigners.

Hasipoğlu urged the Greek Cypriot administration to recognize the decisions of the Immovable Property Commission, which is accepted as an effective domestic remedy by the European Court of Human Rights.

He argued that the arrests made by the Greek Cypriot side have no legal basis and that their only intention is to harm the economy of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Hasipoğlu emphasized that the Immovable Property Commission is a functioning legal mechanism and criticized the Greek Cypriot side for politicizing the issue and taking it to personal criminal cases.

During the Council of Europe’s General Assembly, he explained the situation to the deputies and relevant bodies of the European Court of Human Rights and the Council, and highlighted the need for serious lobbying efforts on the issue.
