The delegation of the National Defence Commission of the Turkish Grand National Assembly headed by Hulusi Akar held a meeting with the Legal Political Affairs and Foreign Relations Committee of the Republic’s Assembly.

Speaking at the beginning of the meeting, the Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Hulusi Akar said that they will continue to do their part in unity and solidarity in order for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to reach an economically prosperous level.

Reminding that it has not been easy to come to these days, Akar noted that a lot of work is still needed and that the first condition for this is unity and solidarity.

Stating that they respect international law and do not have an eye on anyone’s land, Akar reiterated that they will not allow any fait accompli in Cyprus adding that they are ready for all kinds of cooperation.

The Chairman of the Legal, Political Affairs and Foreign Relations Committee of the Republic’s Assembly Yasemin Öztürk stated that there should be unity on the Cyprus issue.

Stating that the Turkish Cypriot people are being portrayed as if they are the party that does not want reconciliation, Öztürk criticized the expenditures made by South Cyprus in the field of defence.

She stated that South Cyprus has signed bilateral agreements with many countries such as the US, Israel and France and noted that cooperation with the Republic of Türkiye is very important.
