Initiatives continue for the evacuation of TRNC citizens in Gaza

Initiatives continue for citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) who want to leave Gaza due to the clashes between Israel and Palestine.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 343 TRNC citizens and their first-degree family members have applied to the Ministry for evacuation.

In the statement, it was also stated that 86 TRNC citizens, who passed through the Rafah Border Gate and reached Egypt, have now reached Istanbul with flights from Cairo.

In a written statement released by the Ministry, it said “Our initiatives continue for the evacuation of TRNC citizens and their families who wish to leave the region through the call center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its representative offices in the region.”

In the statement, it was also noted that 343 TRNC citizens and their first-degree family members have applied to the Ministry’s call center for their evacuation so far and their names have been shared with the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It was also stated that 86 TRNC citizens, who applied to the Ministry and reached Egypt through the Rafah Border Gate together with Turkish citizens, have reached Istanbul with flights from Cairo.

“Some of these citizens also have Turkish citizenship. The TRNC Consulate General in Istanbul is in contact with our citizens who have been temporarily placed in state guesthouses and hotels by the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency AFAD and who are also provided with food and accomodation services. So far, there has been no request from our evacuated citizens to be transferred to our country. We will continue our efforts to finalize the evacuation of all of our citizens in Gaza safely and as soon as possible” concluded the statement.
