The Earthquake Inspection Committee affiliated to the Prime Ministry is continuing its work.
Inspections have been carried out on 650 buildings at 160 public schools in the country.
The initial visual inspection phase which is the first stage of the building inspections, are planned to be completed within a few days.
According to a statement made by the Prime Ministry, after the earthquake disaster in Türkiye on February 6, the Prime Ministry took swift action and has started preparing for a possible earthquake in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
In the statement, it was reminded that as a first step, the Earthquake Inspection Committee affiliated to the Prime Ministry, which includes scientists, chambers and state officials, was established.
One of the first decisions taken by the committee was to carry out inspections at primary and secondary schools in the country and assess the schools durability against earthquakes.
It was emphasized that a decision was taken to carry out immediate inspections at 160 public schools that contain around 740 buildings.
During the first stage of inspections, close to 650 buildings have been inspected, and the committee plans to complete its inspections as soon as possible.
The Earthquake Inspection Committee has prepared five stages that will be carried out while buildings are inspected.
