Investment in education continues

The foundations for the new Çatalköy Primary School were laid today.

The primary school is being built in Çatalköy with the contributions of Çatalköy-Esentepe Municipality and sponsors.

Both President Ersin Tatar and the minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu attended the foundation laying ceremony.

Speaking during the foundation laying ceremony the Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu noted that most of the schools in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) have been built in the last couple of years.

Noting that the TRNC is going through a period of difficulties due to the increasing population and lack of investments, Çavuşoğlu noted that more than 20 schools have been built with the contributions of philanthropists and the state.

Stating that at the point of strengthening the schools against earthquakes, they aim to strengthen the buildings, not demolish them, Minister Çavuşoğlu noted that they are doing everything they can to improve the conditions at schools.

President Ersin Tatar also said a few words at the ceremony.

He said that Çatalköy is one of the regions with increasing importance and value.

Emphasizing that investments in education are important investments for the future, Tatar pointed to the efforts to provide education for the children of foreigners who came to the TRNC for different reasons.

Stating that the education system in the country is progressing and developing gradually, Tatar said that it is his greatest wish to raise people who will provide important services to the country and humanity.
