Former Prime Minister İrsen Küçük is being remembered today by state and government officials on the 4th anniversary of his death.

A memorial service was held for the late Küçük this morning (on Friday) at his graveside at the state cemetery in Lefkoşa.

The ceremony was attended by President Ersin Tatar, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, and the Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu, the leader of the main opposition Republican Turkish Party (CTP), several ministers, MPs and the Küçük family.

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, President Ersin Tatar said that İrsen Küçük had dedicated his life and career for the welfare of the Turkish Cypriot people and the TRNC.

He reminded that Küçük had dreamt of bringing water to Cyprus from Türkiye earlier in his career and that it was during his term in office that the water pipeline project from Türkiye had come to life.

Tatar said that Küçük’s contribution to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) as a politician; an MP and prime minister will never be forgotten.

“We are gathered here today to remember and pay our respects to the late İrsen Küçük. Your contributions will never be forgotten. May you rest in peace,” he concluded.
