President Ersin Tatar has made remarks regarding the developments in the Israel-Palestinian conflict.
Tatar once again condemned the killing of civilians, including children, in Palestine.
He also said that they were following closely reports on the deployment of foreign troops in South Cyprus.
Speaking to the press in Afyonkarahısar in Türkiye, President Tatar said that they are closely following reports about the deployment of additional troops to the South of Cyprus.
He emphasized that Türkiye is a guarantor in Cyprus and stressed that any military developments in Cyprus should be in Türkiye’s knowledge.
According to earlier reports, the German and Dutch governments have deployed Special Forces units to South Cyprus in preparation for “all scenarios” concerning the Hamas-led Palestinian conflict.
The German Army’s Special Forces Command (KSK), Navy Special Forces (KSM) unit, also known as combat swimmers, and the federal police Special Forces unit, which specializes in rescuing hostages (GSG 9), were all deployed to the Mediterranean island, German media Bild reported on October 19, citing security sources.
