Italian Pres.Materrella visits CMP Antropology Lab

Italian President Sergio Mattarella who carried out a two-day trip to South Cyprus wrapped up his contacts on Tuesday with a visit to the Anthropology Laboratory of the Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP) located in the UN controlled buffer zone.

Upon his arrival at the laboratory, Mattarella was welcomed by the Turkish Cypriot Member of the Missing Persons Committee Hakkı Müftüzade, the Greek Cypriot Member Leonidas Pantelides, and Bruce Koepke representing the UN.

During the visit, the Italian President was briefed on the work carried out by the CMP.

Following Mattarella’s visit, Turkish Cypriot Member of the Missing Persons Committee Hakkı Müftüzade spoke to BRT.

Müftüzade stated that he explained to the Italian President that the Committee is a confidence-building measure between communities.

Hakkı Müftüzade noted that Mattarella appreciated the sensitive and humanitarian role played by the Missing Persons Committee.
