The second Kaleburnu Arkeo Festival, held under the theme “Where the Sun Rises Most Beautifully”, took place in the village square with strong participation from locals and visitors alike.

Organized through a collaboration between Erenköy-Karpaz Municipality, İskele Municipality, and the Kaleburnu Arkeo Festival Committee, the event aimed to spotlight the village’s historical wealth and promote cultural tourism in the Karpaz region.

The festival began with folk dance performances, followed by a moment of silence and the national anthem.

Speakers throughout the day emphasised Kaleburnu’s cultural and historical significance.

Festival Committee representative Rasım Küçük described the village as a cultural hub with potential to become a regional attraction, while İskele Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu noted the event marked the first joint activity following a newly signed cooperation protocol between the two municipalities.

Erenköy-Karpaz Mayor Hamit Bakırcı called for stronger support from the central government to better promote the village.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu praised the area’s historical and natural value and announced that budget approval has been secured for a new archaeology museum in Kaleburnu.

The museum will host artefacts uncovered in the Kral Hill excavation site, ensuring they remain part of the local heritage.

The day-long festival concluded with plaque presentations, concerts, handicrafts displays, and historical safari tours, showcasing Kaleburnu as an emerging cultural destination.
