A book titled ‘Kapalı Maraş Açılımı’ meaning the ‘Closed city of Maraş initiative’ has been published.

The book was written by President Ersin Tatar.

The book describes the activities carried out by various foundations in the closed city of Maraş since the Ottoman period, what happened during the British period, the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation and the negotiation periods afterwards until October 2020.

The book also covers how the Maraş region was captured during the Second Peace Operation, how Maraş came to the agenda in the negotiations, the aim of the Maraş initiative, its economic dimension and President Tatar’s statements on the area.

In the book, which was prepared for publication by Aydın Akkurt, Chief Advisor and Press Advisor of the Presidency, and edited by Dr. Çağın Zort, Private Secretary of the Presidency, many documents and photographs related to the closed city of Maraş have been published for the first time.
