The Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre has said that the embargoes imposed on the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) were being overcome by student’s who came to the country to study.

Speaking at the Kıbrıs American University’s graduation ceremony on Tuesday, Töre noted that countries which imposed embargoes on the TRNC were committing a crime against humanity.

Addressing Kıbrıs American University’s newest graduates, the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly said that new responsibilities were waiting for them as they prepared to enter a new stage of their lives.

Stating that university graduates will be representing the TRNC in other countries wherever they go, Töre asked the students to never forget the TRNC.

“Carry our nation to every country you go to,” said Töre, reminding that students who come to the country to study were overcoming the embargoes imposed on the Turkish Cypriot people.

Stressing that countries which are imposing embargoes were committing a humanitarian crime, he asked the graduates to embrace humanitarian values in their lives.

“Love our homeland and your nation because, one must first love their nation before spreading that love to the rest of humanity. One who does not love their nation and people cannot love humanity”, Töre said.
