Konya Selçuk University delegation in the TRNC

A delegation from the Konya Selçuk University is visiting the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

The delegation was received by President Ersin Tatar and the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre respectively.

President Ersin Tatar received the Rector of the Konya Selçuk University Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy and his accompanying delegation.

According to a statement made by the Presidency; during the visit Tatar stated that Konya Selçuk University is one of the largest and most important universities in Türkiye.

Touching upon the Cyprus issue, President Tatar pointed out that the Cyprus issue is a national cause not only for the Turkish Cypriot people and Motherland Türkiye but also for the entire Turkic world and emphasized the importance of promoting and increasing the visibility of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which successfully defends the Turkish presence and interests in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy for his part stated that as the University and the people of Konya, we will always support the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Aksoy pointed out that they will continue to provide all kinds of support to promote the TRNC and to better understand the importance of the national cause.

The delegation from the Konya Selçuk University was also received by the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre.

According to a statement issued by the Assembly, the Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre reminded that the fortieth anniversary of the TRNC will be celebrated in the coming days in this period when the centennial of the Motherland Türkiye is being celebrated.

Töre said that the TRNC will continue on its way forever.

Stating that they will strive for the next century to be the Turkish century, Töre emphasized that Türkiye being strong means that the Turkish Cypriots will always be strong as well.

Referring to Israel’s attacks on Gaza, Töre stated that the UN Security Council did not fulfil its function and was impotent.
