The Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry’s Board of Directors held a press conference on Thursday sharing with the public the work it carried out as well as it goals during its two-year term.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry Ali Kamaçıoğlu held a press conference on Thursday sharing with the public the chamber’s activities and work carried out over the past two years.

Kamacıoğlu said that among the board’s accomplishments since assuming its two year term in May 2021 had been to take over the task of issuing work permits and ending the practice of requesting a letter of guarantee from banks and firm owners.

He added that an agreement had also been reached to finance the upgrading of infrastructure in industrial zones through local funds and money to be acquired through the Economic and Financial Cooperation Protocol.

“We also continued to cooperate and work together with the Turkish Embassy in Lefkoşa on industrial incentives and credit loans,” Kamacıoğlu said.

Also touching upon the contacts held in Brussels by the chamber along with the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Shopkeepers and Artisans on issues concerning the Green Line Regulation, Kamacıoğlu said that work had been stepped up to increase olive and olive oil exports.

“Within this framework we began selling olive oil to the South for the first time. We also launched a project on the creation of a coop for renewable energy and set up the Cyprus Turkish Solidarity Platform to help assist Türkiye’s recovery efforts from the devastating February 6 earthquake,” he said.
