Commemorative events in line with National Struggle and Martyrs Week are continuing.

The martyrs of Küçük Kaymaklı and Martyr Hüseyin Ruso were commemorated with ceremonies on Monday.

The first ceremony was held at 09.00 for the martyrs of Küçük Kaymaklı at the Küçük Kaymaklı Martyrdom.

The ceremony started with the placing of the wreaths at the martyrs’ monument and continued with a minute’s silence and the flags being raised to the reciting of the national anthem.

At the ceremony where poems were read by students, President Ersin Tatar and Ahmet Ruso, a member of the Board of Directors of the Martyrs’ Families and Disabled Veterans Association, delivered speeches.

President Ersin Tatar during his speech at the ceremony pointed to the struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people against the brutal attacks of the Greek Cypriots to realize ENOSIS in line with the Akritas Plan.

Tatar stated that Turkish Cypriots had to live under atrocities and difficult conditions for years until the 1974 Peace Operation.

Stating that the noble struggle of the Turkish Cypriots went down in history, Tatar noted that the struggle was not given up and that’s how they reached where they are today.

Noting that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is an observer member of the Commonwealth of Turkic States and that important steps have been taken towards recognition, Tatar said “TRNC is our success story”.

A similar ceremony was held for Martyr Hüseyin Ruso at his mausoleum.

Delivering a short speech here President Ersin Tatar stated that Hüseyin Ruso was a good sportsman and teacher, a hero of the resistance, and that he was martyred by fighting against brutal attacks, sacrificing his life.

Referring to the events in Gaza, Tatar stated that the importance of Türkiye’s guarantorship and the deterrent power of the Turkish army has once again emerged.
