Labour Minister Gardiyanoğlu evaluates contacts in Ankara

The Minister of Labour and Social Security Sadık Gardiyanoğlu, on Wednesday, described his latest contacts in the Turkish capital Ankara as productive.

Speaking at a press conference to evaluate his meetings with Türkiye’s Minister of Labour and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan, and Minister of Family and Social Services, Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, the Minister of Labour and Social Security Sadık Gardiyanoğlu said that he had conducted a productive visit.

Gardiyanoğlu said that they received full support for their projects during his discussions with his Turkish counterparts.

He mentioned that they received support from Türkiye’s Minister of Labour and Social Security, Işıkhan, regarding the coordination of technical teams, infrastructure work, and the establishment of laboratories.

He indicated that they had reached agreements on various collaboration points, including the application of certain criteria and standards for workers coming to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) from third-world countries related to working life.

Gardiyanoğlu also noted that they have addressed past deficiencies concerning retirement and premiums in the protocols signed for Social Security.

He also expressed that they received full support for labour force planning and other institutional structuring.

Touching upon his meeting with Türkiye’s Minister of Family and Social Services, Göktaş, Gardiyanoğlu said, “We have reached a complete consensus on the maintenance, construction, technical equipment, and humanitarian infrastructure of our nursing homes, special education centres, rehabilitation centres, elderly care homes, and children’s shelters.”

He further stated, “We will also finalize the remaining aspects of the Financial Cooperation Protocol, and a brand new branch of social services awaits us.”

Gardiyanoğlu noted that they received support from the ministers for a rehabilitation centre in Erenköy and technical assistance for the Kalkanlı care facility.

Additionally, they aim to put the Disability-Friendly Care Facility in Demirhan into service on December 30.
