The Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality (LTB) on Friday updated its announcements on road closures as part of ongoing infrastructure work to new the capital’s sewage network.

The municipality announced that the previously closed section between the Metehan Roundabout and Civil Defence Roundabout has reopened.

Traffic between the two roundabouts is now facilitated through the previously closed section now temporarily split into two while the opposite section has now been closed to traffic until Monday, August 26.

Meanwhile, a section of the Mehmet Akif Avenue also known as Dereboyu has also been closed to traffic as part of ongoing efforts to renew the city’s main sewage pipeline.

The works to be carried out in three stages in total are expected to be completed by September 15.

The first stage of the ₺36m project which is being funded by the EU will continue until August 22.

Traffic will be diverted through back roads, the municipality announced.

Drivers are advised to pay attention to traffic warnings and directions for the duration of the roadworks.
