Lefkoşa’s main boulevard to be closed off to traffic

A section of the Dr. Fazıl Küçük Boulevard in Lefkoşa will be temporarily closed off to traffic on Sunday due to the rehearsal for the August 30 Victory Day parade set to take place next week.

The boulevard will also be closed to traffic on Wednesday, August 30, the day of the parade from 7am until the end of the ceremony.

Victory Day, also known as Turkish Armed Forces Day marks the decisive victory in the Battle of Dumplupınar, the last battle in the Greco-Turkish War.

According to a statement from the Police Department, the section of the Alpet (Atınbaş) Petrol Station traffic lights junction and the Gönyeli Roundabout will be closed to traffic from 8am until the end of the rehearsal.

For drivers wishing to access the Organized Industrial Zone in Lefkoşa, controlled access will be provided from Altınbaş Petrol Traffic Lights Junction or the Atatürk Stadium Roundabout.

Drivers coming from Gazimağusa and wishing to go to the Near East University, will be able to do so via the Lefkoşa North Ring Road.

Drivers coming from Gazimağusa and wishing to enter the Lefkoşa city centre will be able to do so by turning left from the Hamitköy Roundabout and using the Mimar Mehmet Vahip Avenue and the Şht. İsmail Beyoğlu Street, or by turning left from the Honda Traffic Lights and using the Şht. Mustafa Ahmet Ruso Avenue.

Again drivers coming from the Gazimağusa direction and wishing to go to Güzelyurt, can do so via the Gönyeli Roundabout on the Lefkoşa North Ring Road or via the Citröen Traffic Lights junction on Lefkoşa Mehmet Akif Avenue, following the Metehan-Alayköy Ring Road.

For drivers coming from Güzelyurt and wishing to enter Lefkoşa, access will be provided via the Alayköy-Metehan Ring Road or via the Gönyeli Roundabout and Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Street (State Hospital) route.

Drivers are kindly requested not to park their vehicles on the specified roads to avoid obstructing traffic and to strictly follow traffic signs and instructions.
