The traffic flow between the Metehan Roundabout and the Civil Defence Roundabout in Lefkoşa will change tomorrow due to ongoing infrastructure work related to the new Presidential and Parliamentary complex as well as the city’s main sewage pipeline.
According to the Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality (LTB), the currently closed Metehan Roundabout-Civil Defence Roundabout route will reopen tomorrow morning.
However, the opposite road from the Civil Defence Roundabout-Metehan Roundabout route will be closed to traffic until August 26.
Meanwhile, a section of the Mehmet Akif Avenue also known as Dereboyu has also been closed to traffic as part of ongoing efforts to renew the city’s main sewage pipeline.
The first stage of the ₺36m project which is being funded by the EU will continue until August 22.
The Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality has announced changes to the traffic flow between the Metehan Roundabout and the Civil Defence Roundabout as part of road and infrastructure development works near the Presidential Palace and Parliament Complex.
According to the announcement, the currently closed route from the Metehan Roundabout to the Civil Defence Roundabout will reopen tomorrow morning.
The route from the Civil Defence Roundabout to the Metehan Roundabout will be closed from 7:00 AM tomorrow until Monday, August 26, due to the start of new construction works.
The announcement also provided information on the new traffic flow: drivers travelling from the Civil Defence Roundabout to the Metehan and the Mehmet Akif Street will be directed to the opposite lane at the roundabout, allowing them to reach the Metehan Roundabout via this route.
Drivers heading from the Metehan Roundabout to the Ortaköy Civil Defence Roundabout will use a single lane in this direction.
Meanwhile, a section of the Mehmet Akif Avenue also known as Dereboyu has also been closed as part of ongoing efforts to renew the city’s main sewage pipeline.

The section starting from the Avenue Arcade to the old Pronto roundabout will be closed for the duration of the work.
Traffic will be diverted through back roads, the municipality announced.
Drivers are advised to pay attention to traffic warnings and directions during the construction period.
