The Disaster Search and Rescue training courses carried out in cooperation with the Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality (LTB) and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) have been completed.

For three days, staff from the Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality was given theoretical and practical training on how to conduct search and rescue in the event of an earthquake disaster.

According to information from the Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality, staff from the municipality took part in a three-day training course provided by experts from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality on how to respond in the event of natural disasters such as earthquakes.

Workers from the municipality were given theoretical and practical training at a site provided by the Civil Defence Organisation such as operating equipment to detect survivors, extracting survivors, putting out gas and electrical fires and cutting through concrete and metal bars.

The Mayor of Lefkoşa Mehmet Harmancı who joined the teams at the end of the exercise congratulated and thanked all those who took part.
