The Malatya Culture Society held its 5th ordinary congress on Sunday.

The event was attended by President Ersin Tatar and the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre.

Addressing the congress, President Ersin Tatar drew attention to the dangers posed by a federal settlement in Cyprus.

He said that such a settlement was a fairy tale designed to cut Turkish Cypriots from Anatolia and end Türkiye’s guarantees on the island.

Tatar said that their goal was to create a strong TRNC in the Eastern Mediterranean.

He pointed out that historical records showed that Turks from Anatolia had outnumbered the Greek population when the Ottoman’s conquered the island.

“No one can tell us to look at the island’s population. It is a natural right for those who have settled here since 1974 to become citizens. There are two peoples on the island, both of which are sovereign. The Turkish Cypriot people are just as sovereign as the Greek Cypriots,” he said.

Tatar concluded his speech by stating that no one can break the Turkish Cypriot people’s bond with motherland Türkiye.

Also speaking at the event, the Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre said that the Turkish Cypriot people were proud to be part of the Turkish nation.

He also said that the TRNC was of utmost important to the Turkic world.

The TRNC parliamentary speaker also said that the Turkish Cypriot people will never abandon their state or Türkiye’s guarantees in Cyprus.

He pointed out that there was an unbreakable bond between the two countries.
