“The Management Circle’s 1st Convention” event organised by the District 135 Lions Clubs was held in the capital Lefkoşa.
The event was attended by both President Ersin Tatar and Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre.
Speaking at the event, President Tatar pointed to the importance of the clubs established in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to take its place among other Lions Clubs in the world under their own code.
Tatar said that there are two separate peoples, two separate states and two separate regions in Cyprus.
“We have earned this honour. There is the struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people here,” said President Tatar, noting that the Lions Clubs in Northern Cyprus carried out their activities with universal values and always stood by those less fortunate.
Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre for his part stated that the Lions Clubs touched the lives of people with a spirit of cooperation and solidarity.
He also drew attention to the events in Gaza and asked the lions to raise a common voice on this issue.
