Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu has announced that the number of people who have visited the public areas in the fenced-off town of Maraş has reached a million.
Ataoğlu noted that they expect the number to exceed a million by the end of the year.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu, in a statement to the Anadolu Agency (AA), stated that the number of people visiting the fenced-off town ofMaraş, which was gradually being reopened after 46 years, is growing by the day.
“Maraş is a positive contribution to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’s (TRNC) tourism sector. We can see that tourists from all corners of the world are visiting the TRNC just to see this area,” said Ataoğlu.
He noted that Greek Cypriots were also among those visiting the town.
Pointing out that the highest number of people visiting Maraş were Turkish nationals, Ataoğlu said, “As a result, when we look at the number of visitors today, we can see that we have reached a million in this short time, which makes us very happy.”
According to the ministry’s data, most visitors are first timers.
