March held in Gazimağusa for the Champion Angels

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel praised the “Shine a light on justice” march that was realized in Gazimağusa on Thursday and said, he believes that justice will be served soon and those responsible will receive the punishment they deserve.

“Isias is our common cause and we are closely following the case” he said.

A march was realized in Gazimağusa on Thursday night for the Champion Angels who lost their lives in the February 6 earthquakes centred in Kahramanmaraş, Türkiye.

The march began from the Gazimağusa Turk Maarif College to the Victory Monument and those who participated carried torches.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel issued a statement via his social media account by saying that he supports the “Shine a light on justice” march held in Gazimağusa.

“The February 6 earthquake, which turned into a great disaster due to human mistakes, caused the Turkish Cypriot people as much pain as the one experienced during the time of war in our country. The pain of our lost champion angels and all our losses is still tearing our hearts” wrote Üstel.

He said that after the earthquake disaster, all the findings based on scientific data have proven that people’s lives were knowingly put at risk due to the man made mistakes.

“It is not possible to bring back our losses. However, in order to prevent this from happening again, it is imperative that all those responsible receive the punishment they deserve” said Üstel.

He noted that this process is of utmost importance to ensure that those left behind do not lose their trust in justice.

“I believe that justice will be served as soon as possible and those responsible will receive the punishment they deserve” wrote Üstel.
