Today is May 3 World Press Freedom Day.

The Cyprus Turkish Journalists’ Association is holding a series of week-long events to draw attention to the importance of freedom of press.

The Cyprus Turkish Journalists’ Association is holding events throughout this week to draw attention to the freedom of press.

Events kicked-off on Tuesday with a press statement read-out in front of parliament followed by the releasing of doves carrying slogans on the freedom of press.

A panel will be held on Wednesday night moderated by journalist Canan Onurer.

The head of the Cyprus Turkish Bars Association Hasan Esendağlı and journalist/writer Cenk Mutluyakalı will be attending the panel as speakers.

Other panels will take place on Thursday and Friday.

All events at the Cyprus Turkish Journalists Association Complex in Lefkoşa will begin at 8pm.
