Bayrak Radio Television Corporation is continuing to celebrate its 60th anniversary with a series of events.
Within this framework an art competition was organised at BRTK on the occasion of the 1st of June Children’s Day.
The awards of the competition titled “Media in the World You Imagine” will be presented at a ceremony to be held on Thursday at the corporation.
In previous years, the BRTK has traditionally held drawing competitions on different occasions and topics.
This year, the competition was held under the theme “Media in the World You Imagine.”
The competition aimed to raise children’s awareness of how events are presented through sound and visuals, and to enhance their understanding of the media as well encourage children to use their imagination to depict the meaning of media in their own worlds through drawings and to bring their dreams to life with colours.
The participants were encouraged to explore their creativity and express their thoughts on the role of media in shaping their imagined world.
188 students from public and private primary and secondary schools took part in the competition.
Under the supervision of Ayhatun Ateşin and with the participation of BRT Director Meryem Özkurt, the jury members Erten Kasımoğlu, Emel Samioğlu, Nilgün Güney, Kemal Behcet Caymaz, and Pınar Başman, the President of the Mevhibe and Mustafa Başman Foundation, gathered to determine the best drawings.
Accordingly, 16 drawings were deemed worthy of awards. The students who received awards for their artwork will be presented with their prizes during a ceremony held at BRTK on the occasion of the 1st June World Children’s Day.
Certificates of participation will be given to the students whose drawings were considered worthy of being exhibited.
The award-winning and exhibition-worthy drawings will be showcased at the Broadcasting History Museum HD Exhibition Hall.
In her statement regarding the competition, BRTK Director Meryem Özkurt emphasized that even in its 60th year; BRTK continues to be the eyes and ears of the public.
She expressed that in the past, children and young people were provided with the opportunity to express themselves through art and colours, and this tradition is being continued today.
Özkurt stated that while the BRTK continues its broadcasts with a sense of public broadcasting consciousness and responsibility in light of the evolving and changing world, they aim to strengthen the connection of children, who are the future, with art and culture.
Ayhatun Ateşin, the Curator of the BRTK Broadcasting History Museum, also noted that the corporation aims to reflect the past experiences to future generations by creating educational, informative, entertaining, and artistic programs from the past to the present.
Ateşin emphasized the importance of rewarding and supporting young people with an interest and talent in art, and said, “With this competition, we want to provide young people with experiences that will enable them to represent themselves and, if necessary, their countries in similar national and international competitions.”
