The Foreign Ministry has lambasted the Israeli government over its allegations implicating the involvement of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on the assassination attempt against Jewish citizens in Cyprus

In a statement issued on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that it vehemently rejected this baseless, unfounded, and malicious claim.

It added that the Israeli government continued to make statements that did not align with the facts in order to divert the attention of the international public from the inhumane attacks it carries out in Gaza and the West Bank and the massacre faced by Palestinian civilians.

“The latest example of this is the claim from the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that our country is being used for Iran’s so-called terrorist activities. We vehemently reject this baseless, unfounded, and malicious claim,” the statement read.

It added that the efforts of the Israeli government to target the TRNC particularly in light of the fact that it was the Greek Cypriot Administration, known for harbouring terrorists such as PKK members responsible for carrying out atrocities in Türkiye as well as a money laundering centre for Russian oligarchs were clearly malicious.

“We want to make it clear to the whole world that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, a country of peace and security, will not allow itself to be drawn into dark and dirty games. We assure everyone living in our country that we will continue to ensure their safety with determination,” the statement concluded.
