The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that efforts to evacuate Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) citizens currently in Sudan were continuing.
A group of fifteen Turkish Cypriots are working in a Turkish company in Sudan where armed conflict began last month.
In a written statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that efforts were underway to repatriate the group of TRNC citizens currently stranded in Sudan where armed conflict began last month between the Sudanese Army and the government’s paramilitary force, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The Foreign Ministry said that it had contacted the Turkish Embassy in Khartoum and that the group were being evacuated to safety.
“Our ministry and our embassy in Ankara are carrying out all necessary efforts to ensure the evacuation to the safety of our citizens,” the foreign ministry statement read.
